Why RADIOPLANUNG: the case for decision-makers in radio
Not a generic tool, but an editorial system built on more than 25 years of radio experience. Developed along the real workflows inside a station, for less friction, more overview and clearer processes.
One system instead of many isolated tools
In many stations, planning, content, promotions, appointments and communication are spread across separate tools: Excel lists, email inboxes, shared documents, external AI tools, standalone calendars. Each has its place, but together they create friction.
RADIOPLANUNG brings these layers into one interface: broadcast planning, items and news, promotions and campaigns, the schedule, the AI Hub, the Weather Dashboard, channels, the Sharing Center, prize handling, dashboards and contact management. One login, one set of data, one system.
That reduces tool sprawl, lowers the cost of parallel licences and removes the coordination problems that arise when information sits in different systems.
Connected workflows instead of manual handovers
The biggest drain on time in radio newsrooms is not producing content, it is everything in between. A topic is discussed, an item is written, it has to be transferred manually into the playout system, the related promotion sits in another file, and the current status is unclear.
In RADIOPLANUNG these steps are connected. An item is created, booked straight onto a broadcast slot and, where needed, passed to a playout system such as Radio.Cloud or DABiS800. The related promotion, the linked appointment and the current status are visible to everyone involved, so editorial, programming and sales work from the same information.
No copying between systems. No information lost between departments. No uncertainty about promotions that are already running.
AI inside the workflow, not alongside it
Many stations already use AI, but as a separate tool next to the actual working process. The result: broken workflows, extra licences and text with no connection to the broadcast slot, the promotion or the channel.
The AI Hub in RADIOPLANUNG works differently: add sources, run prompts, take the results straight into an item or a news story and book them onto a broadcast slot. A single source produces several formats in one pass: on air, online, social media. Brand voices make sure the results sound like your station.
The AI Hub is part of every station licence. There is no separate AI licence and no additional tool.
From a single station to a broadcasting group
RADIOPLANUNG works for a single station just as well as for a broadcasting group with several programmes, or a network spread across locations.
The channel function makes it possible to run several programmes centrally from one interface, with one login, in one instance. Content can be created across channels, distributed and then processed locally. The global channel holds authority and can push content to individual programmes or to all of them.
For alliances and networks, the Sharing Center is available: items and news are exchanged across stations, with automatic change tracking. Separate instances with their own subdomains are also possible.
The structure grows with the station, with no need to change systems.
Built out of radio, not adapted to it
RADIOPLANUNG was developed by Helmut Plarre, with more than 25 years of experience in radio. The system works with the terms, routines and structures a station actually uses: broadcast slots, dayparts, on-air content, the studio view, promotions and campaigns.
It is not a general project management tool adapted to radio after the fact. The modules, forms and workflows were built from the ground up for editorial and planning work in radio stations.
Reference customers such as Arabella München, 95.5 Charivari München, Antenne Steiermark, Funkhaus Nürnberg and AIDAradio work with the system every day.
What this means for your team
Programme management and editorial leadership
An overview of all planned content, promotions and their on-air status. Workflows and approval processes can be mapped through status systems you define yourself. Editorial, programming and sales collaborate on one shared set of data.
Editorial and presentation
Create items and news, book them onto broadcast slots, call them up in the studio view. AI support directly in the input form. Speaking time calculation, free text fields and tagging for the daily routine. Fewer breaks in the workflow, more speed.
Management
Fewer parallel tools, lower licence costs, more transparency across topics, promotions and processes. A system that adapts to the size of the station, with no over-specification and no hidden costs.
Sales management
All promotions and campaigns at a glance, with period, status, linked items and appointments. Client mentions do not get forgotten, because they are part of the planning rather than of a separate list.
Technical and digital roles
REST API with documentation for external connections. Interfaces to playout systems (Radio.Cloud, DABiS800). Single sign-on via SAML2. Central data storage, granular permissions, channel-specific rights.
Alliances, broadcasting groups and networks
Multi-station logic with channels and the Sharing Center. Exchange content across stations, work centrally and locally. A content hub perspective for networks, including beyond the boundaries of a single alliance.
Frequently asked questions
Rollout covers the initial setup, configuration of broadcast slots, dayparts and users, and a briefing for the team. The effort depends on the size of the station, but is designed so that you can start working quickly.
Yes. After a short online presentation we set up a free test environment where you can try RADIOPLANUNG with your team.
RADIOPLANUNG usually replaces scattered individual solutions. Existing routines are moved into the system rather than simply switched off. Free text fields, status systems you define yourself and configurable broadcast slots mean the system adapts to your station.
The editorial system is not a general tool that was adapted to radio. It works with the terms and structures of daily station life: broadcast slots, dayparts, the studio view, promotions, channels. Modules and forms were developed specifically for editorial and planning work in radio.
Yes. RADIOPLANUNG offers interfaces to Radio.Cloud and DABiS800 for passing content directly to the playout system. Further connections are possible in future. A REST API is also available for connecting websites, apps and other systems.
Yes. The station licence starts at 15 users. All modules and AI functions are included even in the smallest tier. There is no stripped-down entry package. Everyone has access to every function.
RADIOPLANUNG is cloud-based and operated in German data centres. Data processing is GDPR-compliant.
Stations in Germany and Austria use the system in daily operation, from individual local stations through to broadcasting groups running several programmes.
Yes. The channel function lets you manage several programmes centrally from one interface, with one login and one set of data. Content can be created across channels, distributed and then processed locally.
In most cases we can take structured data into the system. Just raise it with us directly and we will assess what an import from your current systems would involve.
